About this place
Negi gatsu is one option to pair with a drink. A guest who visited with children said they enjoyed it as a dish that “goes well with alcohol”. It is listed at 500 yen, and small plates such as chilled tofu and edamame are also available.
For a more substantial meal, there is onigiri, street-stall-style yakisoba, Shitamachi fried rice and ramen. The yakisoba comes in small, medium and large sizes, while the onigiri is available in 3 varieties: pickled plum, salmon and kombu seaweed. One visitor reported that the onigiri were large and that the children were happy to eat them.
Some diners have described the rolled omelette and stir-fried red sausages as having a homely flavour. Drinks include beer, chūhai, lemon sour and green tea shōchū. The menu makes it easy to put together either a meal or a spread of snacks to go with drinks.
There are tatami-floor seating areas as well as tables. One family who used the tatami seating reported that it was comfortable for spending time with children. Monchan accepts cash only, so be sure to bring some for payment.
